Project: Blogtools.org

Status: released

Info:

Blogtools provides tools that allow bloggers to get more out of their blogging experience. Many blog service providers limit what a blogger can do on his or her own site. This limitation usually (but not always) occurs because that blog service A. does not support what the blogger wishes to do, or B. will not allow the blogger to do such a thing until a fee is paid. Blogtools is designed to fill the sizeable niche created by this circumstance. Blogtools is effective not only because it provides tools that compete with any other tools available, but because it provides these tools with simple step-by-step installation instructions in a user-friendly environment. Blogtools was designed to be accessible by all, no matter what skill set, and this is what makes it successful.

Services at Blogtools are provided to all members free of charge. Anyone can become a member for free by signing up. Blogtools is supported entirely by its members and relies on donation and advertisement revenue for survival.

Visit the site [Here].

Some Technical Points:

- Blogtools was designed to effectively handle a very large numbers of active members (On the order of several hundred thousand).
- Blogtools was written from the ground-up entirely in Perl and uses a MySQL backend for all data storage.
- All Perl code runs persistantly under SpeedyCGI or mod_perl.
- Services are provided on a closed source basis (no source code is provided).
